Yesterday I wore my newly stitched printed kurta and pants, fresh off my India trip, to run errands. I took off my bangles before entering Walmart, but it hit me that in Texas I might have switched even my kurta for a t-shirt too. People don’t dress up much there, everyone’s wearing casuals, and at this time of year more than half of Walmart would be in shorts.
Moving back to Atlanta has been one of my proudest decisions from this year (there aren’t that many to choose from..), and easily a good one. My eyes aren’t begging for respite from the sun – I evaded the Texas summer – and I don’t think I can ever tire of the Atlanta green. It’s only been over a month since I’ve been back, and my phone is already filled with videos of roadside vegetation filmed while driving and walking, mostly driving. That’s something I brought back from Texas, and 15 extra pounds than what I left this city with, two years ago.
It’s good to be back.
